I'm finally coming up with some ideas for a real website. Here are the things I want to have ready for launch:
* Beethoven's 9th
* Morchestra (at least one unit)
* One or more BR2 tunes

Bupkis. Nada.
I'm deteriorating, strength-wise. It's really hard for me to work on music when I get home. However, I wrote out 1.5 melodies for recorder tunes longhand, so that's not so bad.

Nothing last night, but that's OK. Spent the time playing with my son.

Whipped up a 16-bar arrangement of "Happy Trails" for Levianne. I'm tending towards using the existing ns_kit refill (and soon the existing CM ns_kit refill) rather than make it myself. I mean, if I did it myself, I'd have a 100% custom kit... but I could instead spend that time making music, or at least interesting sampled instruments.
I also started on a piece for work. Right now it's just 5 layers, I need to build it to about 40 layers before I can mix it and submit. I might be able to get to that point by the end of the week.

Good night last night. I did some work on my NS_Kit patch (realizing that doing sampler programming is hard but rewarding) and also some loop slicing.
There's a bunch of samples at the University of Iowa that I need to grab, slice up in Rex, and use.

It's frustrating not to have a "creative box" here at work. This morning I've come up with two different projects, and what I have to show for it are some diagrams on copy paper that I'm sure will get lost before I can implement them.
Rats.
Rats.
Nothing yesterday. That's OK though. I checked out the existing NSKit Reason Refill, and figured out a way that I could do it just a little better.

Last night I got a LOT done. Loopslicing, Beethoven, and eBay listings. Not bad.
Did this work? GAIM's blogger plugin isn't working quite right ATM...

The new powerbooks are hard to resist. They've finally got the muscle (rrmph!) to make it worth my while. It's going to be hard to buy a PB for my niece and not buy one for me. I'm just talking about the iBooks here, since the PB proper doesn't add anything for me (firewire handles anything I might want).
I got some Beethoven done again last night. There are some problems with the way that I do things... I allow myself to be caught up in "what might be" rather than sitting down and writing/creating. I stopped a lot of my fiction writing dead in my tracks once I got an offer to submit fiction to Games Workshop. Once Kyle said I could contribute music to the game, I've stiffened up. It's pretty distressing.

Maybe I need to write a book about learning reason.
Right now, I have to watch out and make sure that the things that I'm doing are actually *worth* doing, and that I'm not just making music for the sake of making noise. There's nothing wrong with that, mind you, but I have precious little time (what with my long hours), and so I need to be a little more jealous of my time.

No Beethoven in several days; I've been too wiped out.
I wonder if the reason that so few people spend time in creative endeavors is that work sucks the ability to do so out of them. I've found that I don't have the same ability to plug myself into writing music these days. That'll come back soon, though, I guess.
I made sure to slice up some loops today, at least.

Fooey.
Another busy night, so no beethoven. I did get to do a little fooling around, though. Plus, the new Computer Music magazine came today, so I've got another big batch of samples.
Tomorrow morning at work I'll probably arrange the template for another classical piece.
Reason is very cool, but I've got this feeling that I'm not going to be able to use it for classical music long-term. The lack of sample libraries is a real downer, and I simply don't have the time to build up patches.

Bleah. I wanted that to be part of a larger post.
I'm becoming overwhelmed with options, and so I end up just surfing the web, rather than actually doing work in the evenings. That's a bad thing to be getting into.
I might not be able to get back into the groove tonight, but I should be able to by tomorrow night or so, if I can just rededicate myself to pursuing the process.

No writing for several days in a row. Why?

I asked for... and got... an audition for the BR2 soundtrack. Kick ass.
Not much to report. 12 bars and not much else last night.
OTOH, I'm keeping up with my "assignment". That's really good (for me, at least).
